Attendance, Conduct, and Academic Honesty
Students who enroll in courses for credit are expected to attend all classes, take the midterm and final examinations, and complete all other coursework. Students who enroll in noncredit IEL courses, EXPO S-C, and GMAT S-1 also are expected to attend all classes and complete all requirements. If a student is absent from a class meeting for any reason, including registering or arriving late, it is the student's responsibility to make up all work from that class. Students who miss the first meetings of their courses risk being dropped from their courses by the Registrar.
A student who is inadequately prepared, fails to attend classes, neglects coursework, or disrupts the course's progress with inappropriate behavior may be required to withdraw from the course by the Administrative Board for Harvard Summer School. Required withdrawal from a course is equivalent in all respects to failing the course; the student is assigned a grade of RQ (required to withdraw) and earns no credit for the course.
Summer School students are expected to conduct themselves properly and with due consideration for others at all times. They are expected to be familiar with and abide by the rules and policies in the Summer School student handbook, including rules regarding academic honesty and the use of Harvard libraries and computer systems. Students who do not comply with those rules and policies are subject to disciplinary action, which may include required withdrawal from Summer School housing, from a specific Summer School course, or from the Summer School. No tuition, room and board, or fees are refunded to students who are required to withdraw from courses, housing, or the Summer School.
All work submitted to meet course requirements is expected to be the student's own work. A student suspected of academic dishonesty in any form is subject to review and disciplinary action by the Summer School Administrative Board. Summer School regulations regarding academic honesty are discussed in detail in the Summer School student handbook. Students who would like more information about these Summer School policies before they register may call Academic Services at (617) 495-0977.
