Dean's Welcome

Photo of Robert Lue

In presenting the 2006 Harvard Summer School, I invite you to participate in a long academic tradition of excellence and innovation. Begun in 1871, our program is the oldest academic summer session in the United States. By combining this tradition with the remarkable resources of Harvard University, we offer a unique opportunity for intellectual exploration in the summer.

Our more than 200 courses cover a wide range of topics including the sciences, humanities, writing, economics, computer science, and over a dozen foreign languages. A complete premedical curriculum and a range of study abroad programs with Harvard faculty are also available. Our college-level program for secondary school students includes special seminars and enhanced college preparatory and academic advising opportunities.

As a visiting student at Harvard, you will join a vibrant community of motivated students and distinguished faculty as you satisfy your intellectual curiosity, earn academic credit, and explore Harvard University. On behalf of the faculty, I invite you to examine our offerings and join one of America’s most stimulating academic environments. We believe you will have a productive and rewarding experience at Harvard.
