Study Abroad Programs
The Summer Study Abroad Programs are the result of a partnership between the Harvard Summer School and Harvard's Office for International Programs. We believe that a period of time spent studying abroad can enrich students' educational experience in many ways, and that all students can benefit from developing their knowledge of the world and of cultural difference as part of their education. Living in a different society, appreciating different cultural values, and learning in a completely new context and in new ways, are the most exciting experiences available to any student.
The programs range in cost from $4,500 to $7,000, which covers tuition, room and some meals, course materials, and scheduled excursions and extracurricular activities. Students are responsible for paying a nonrefundable $50 application fee, a $110 health insurance fee (which will be waived if students have US insurance coverage), and for transportation to and from the program location. The programs are worth 8 units of credit and may be taken for undergraduate or graduate credit. Enrollment is limited. The application deadline is March 1, 2006, for most programs.
Harvard College students may be eligible for financial assistance through the Office of International Programs. Please visit the website or call (617) 496-2722 for information. Students enrolled at other institutions should consult their respective financial aid offices.
Because new programs are being added, and existing programs occasionally change, please check this website periodically for the latest information about studying abroad with the Harvard Summer School.
