All programs are 8 credits, and the credits are accepted toward degrees at Harvard College. The courses also count as transfer credit at most colleges and universities.
Most Summer School study abroad courses count as work done in residence if they are taken for credit after your matriculation as a Harvard College degree candidate and before your graduation.

Abruzzo: ITAL S-52 or ITAL S-96r counts as 1 full-year course (8 credits) of degree credit, 4 credits of which may be counted for concentration credit, pending approval of the concentration’s undergraduate advisor. ITAL S-52 also satisfies the Foreign Cultures Core requirement.
Ashkelon: NELC S-198 counts as 1 full-year course (8 credits) of degree credit.
Bangalore: BIOS S-98rb counts as 1 full-year course (8 credits) of degree credit.
Beijing: CHIN S-120, S-130, S-140, and S-150 count as 2 half-year courses toward the foreign language requirement.
Borneo: BIOS S-165 counts as 1 full-year course (8 credits) of degree credit.
Bonn: BIOS S-98rg counts as 1 full-year course (8 credits) of degree credit.
Buenos Aires: SPAN S-Dx counts as 1 full-year course (8 credits) of degree credit and as 2 half-year courses toward the foreign language citation. This program also satisfies the Foreign Cultures Core requirement.
Honduras: ANTH S-132 counts as 4 credits of archaeological field method credit and 4 credits of independent study credit in anthropology.
Jerusalem: NELC S-142 and S-152 count as 2 half-year courses (4 credits each) of degree credit, and when taken together satisfy the Foreign Cultures Core requirement.
London: HSCI S-119 and S-185 count as 2 half-year courses (4 credits each) of degree credit.
Munich: GERM S-23 counts as 1 full-year course (8 credits) of degree credit. It satisfies the Societies of the World or Culture and Belief. In addition, this course satisfies the Study of the Past requirement, as well as the Foreign Cultures Core requirement. It also counts as 2 courses toward the total of 4 courses required for the foreign language citation.
Olympia and Nafplio: LITR S-107 counts as 1 full-year course (8 credits) of degree credit.
Oxford: BIOS S-112 and S-113 count as 2 half-year courses (4 credits each) of degree credit.
Prague: CZEC S-Aab counts as 1 full-year course (8 credits) of degree credit.
Scandinavia: ANTH S-1095 and SCAN S-150 count as 2 half-year courses (4 credits each) of degree credit. SCAN S-150 satisfies the Literature and Arts A Core and Aesthetic and Interpretive Understanding General Education requirement.
Seoul: This program counts as 2 half-year courses (4 credits each) of degree credit. ANTH S-1726 satisfies the Culture and Belief, the Study of the Past General Education Requirement, or the Historical Studies A Core requirement. KORE S-Ba, S-120a, and S-140a may provide credit toward the foreign language citation; students interested in this option should confer with Sang-suk Oh.
St. Petersburg: RUSS S-B counts as 1 full-year course (8 credits) of degree credit. RUSS S-100 and SLAV S-50 count as 2 half-year courses (4 credits each) of degree credit. RUSS S-B is the equivalent of Slavic B. RUSS S-100 is comparable to Slavic 101 (fifth semester). Students taking SLAV S-50 and RUSS S-100 together will fulfill the Foreign Cultures Core requirement.
Tokyo: EALC S-11 and HIST S-42 each count as 2 half-year courses (4 credits each) of degree credit. EALC S-11 satisfies the Historical Studies A Core requirement, or the Culture and Belief General Education requirement.
Tokyo (RIKEN): BIOS S-98rt and S-141b count as 4 credits of summer independent research and 4 credits of elective neurobiology course degree credit.
Trento: Any 2 MBB courses taken in this program count as 2 half-year courses (4 credits each) of degree credit. Consult your department prior to enrollment regarding the availability of concentration and Core credit.
Uruguay: ANTH S-1741d satisfies the General Education requirement.
Venice: Any 2 courses taken in the Venice program count as 2 half-year courses (4 credits each) of degree credit. Consult your department prior to enrollment regarding the availability of concentration and Core credit.
Yokohama: BIOS S-98ry and BIOS S-142a count as 4 credits of summer independent research and 4 credits of elective course degree credit.
