Every summer, more than 1,000 motivated high school students from the United States and abroad who have completed their 10th, 11th, or 12th year attend the Harvard summer session to experience college. Testing out the responsibilities of college gives you the confidence to succeed as you finish your secondary school career and enter the next phase of your life—college.
The application period opens in December. Complete 2010 information, including application forms will be available by December 1. Courses will be online in mid-January.
If English is not your native language, you will need to submit a TOEFL score when applying. Schedule your TOEFL test as soon as possible.
Alongside college and adult students, you can explore subjects not available at your high school and earn college credit in Harvard courses. You work with distinguished faculty, use well-equipped labs, and have access to the largest university library system in the world.
Through workshops, panels, and other activities, you learn more about the college application process and prepare for what lies ahead outside high school, both academically and personally.
Discussing politics over dinner in Annenberg Hall, studying in Widener Library with classmates, and playing soccer or basketball are only a few of the ways you get to know other students. Your classmates come from all areas of the United States and more than 70 countries around the world.
This might be your first experience of dormitory life. Here, you have the independence and freedom to set your own goals for the summer. But when you need advice or help, your resident proctor is available. You also have opportunities to participate in activities such as athletics, music and theater, and SSP dances.
