Distance Education: Take a Course Online

Consider taking Harvard courses online this summer if you cannot make it to campus. About 10 courses are offered online.
High school students interested in online courses should apply to the Secondary School Program.
How it works
As a distance student, you watch videotaped lectures of classes held on campus. Many of the distance education courses have both online and on-campus options. So if you live in the Boston area, you may attend class in person when you have the time or watch lectures online when you have a schedule conflict. A few courses are available only online. The Summer School does not offer online degrees.

Coursework and communication
You complete the same coursework as students who attend the class on campus, communicating with faculty and other students by e-mail and course websites. Many courses also have bulletin boards or chat rooms that allow you to connect with fellow students and the teaching staff.
