STAT S-100 Introduction to Quantitative Methods (32188)

Statistical principles, applications, and analysis are introduced. Topics include descriptive statistics, probability, sampling procedures, estimation methods, confidence intervals, tests of significance, chisquare tests, regression and correlation, and analysis of variance. Computer programming knowledge is not required; Stata is used and taught in the course. Prerequisite: secondary school mathematics. (4 credits)

This course is an introduction to the statistical methods used in biological and medical research. Topics include elementary probability theory, basic concepts of statistical inference, regression and correlation methods, analysis of variance, and study design. Emphasis is placed on applications to medical problems. (4 credits)
