Harvard College Student Overview

Harvard Summer School offers courses that count for Harvard College degree credit within the 7-week session — from June 24 to August 9, 2024, and the 4-week session — from July 14 to August 9, 2024. Students should choose the “Harvard College” option in the Summer School course catalog to find courses that count for Harvard College credit. See the Harvard College Students Course & Policy Guidelines for important degree credit information, especially regarding the requirement for live participation of Harvard College students in courses that include both synchronous and asynchronous participation options.

Summer School Courses are not restricted to Harvard College students but may include graduate students, Harvard Extension School students, visiting students from other universities, qualified secondary school students, or other adult learners.

New details will be added to this page. Please check back.

Course Registration Directions

Before registering for Summer School courses, you will need to create an account with the Summer School. You will register for Summer School courses directly with the Summer School rather than through my.harvard.

You may create a Summer School account at any time. If you are interested in limited enrollment courses, we encourage you to create an account and register early as classes may fill, however, many courses are open enrollment (see availability notes within the Summer School Course Catalog).

If your native language is not English, you will be asked to meet the Summer School English proficiency requirement before you can register. To waive this requirement, you must contact Proficiency@Summer.Harvard.edu after creating your account and inform them that you are a Harvard College student seeking exemption to the Summer School’s proficiency requirement. Please allow 2-3 business days for the exemption to be posted to your account after emailing.

Once you register for a course you will receive information from the Summer School Registrar’s Office and Student Financial Services regarding important enrollment and financial information. See the Tuition, Fees, and Payments section below for details on Summer School payment dates and deadlines.
