Housing Request & Deadlines
To request housing, complete the housing request in online services (beginning March 1). On-campus housing is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis to students who submit a request and meet all requirements.
Meet all housing requirements early, but no later than Monday, May 21. The Summer School will stop taking housing requests before May 21 if all spaces have been filled.
How to request housing
To be eligible for housing:
- Submit your housing request in online services.
- Be registered in eligible course(s). Students only enrolled in Institute for English Language Programs part-time evening courses, mathematics for teaching courses, or GMAT S-1 are not eligible for housing. Students enrolled in ANTH S-1135 are not eligible for on-campus housing (see the course description for more information about housing at the Harvard Forest).
- Submit full payment of tuition, room and board, and all other fees. See Tuition, Fees, and Payment.
We encourage you to complete these requirements as soon as possible to ensure all materials are processed by May 21. If you do not meet all requirements by this deadline (or before if all spaces are filled before May 21), you will no longer be eligible for housing and your request will be canceled by the Summer School.
Harvard Summer School cannot honor building, room, or roommate requests. There is no housing for couples or families.
Students with disabilities
To be considered for a housing accommodation, submit both a request for accommodation form and documentation of your disability to the disability services coordinator as early as possible, but no later than May 21. See Disability Services.
Room assignment
Housing will be assigned to eligible students who submit full payment of tuition, housing, and all other fees by the housing request deadline of May 21, or before that date if all the spaces are filled earlier. We expect to begin releasing housing assignments on June 12. After June 12, you will receive an e-mail directing you to check your assignment by logging into online services.
Housing cancellation and refunds
You may cancel your housing request (via online services) through Thursday, June 28. After this date you must submit a signed course change and withdrawal form to the Housing Office. E-mail and telephone requests are not accepted. No other method of notification, including failure to move in or verbal notification, is accepted.
Secondary School Program (SSP and SIEL) students: if you wish to cancel housing but remain in courses, you must submit a written cancellation request to the SSP office for approval.
Refund deadlines
Room and board charges are refunded in full if you cancel your housing request by May 21. If you cancel housing after May 21, the amount of your refund depends on the date your cancellation is submitted online or received at the Summer School offices at 51 Brattle Street. If you drop or withdraw from all Summer School courses, you are no longer eligible for housing (see course changes and withdrawals).
