Parking and Transit
Parking in Cambridge and Boston is extremely limited. You are encouraged to walk, bike, or use public transportation instead of bringing vehicles to campus.
Parking applications and fees
If you do drive, permits are required for parking on Harvard University property. Parking for students in on-campus housing and for daytime commuters is located in Allston. Evening commuter parking (after 5 pm) is available in Cambridge on a limited basis.
You may apply for a parking permit once classes begin in June. You must apply in person at the Campus Service Center located on the eighth floor of Smith Campus Center. For details, see the Summer School Parking section of the Campus Service Center website or call (617) 496-7827.
Opening Weekend parking
Brief parking is permitted in Harvard Yard for loading and unloading only. Free parking is available in the 52 Oxford Street garage from 9 am on Saturday, June 21, until 7 am on Monday, June 23. Public parking is available at the Harvard Square Parking Garage (20 Eliot Street) and the 51 Church Street parking lot.
