Funding and Payment
Be sure to read about the funding options available for Harvard Summer School Study Abroad Programs. Upon admission, familiarize yourself with the process for submitting payments.
Harvard College students
Harvard College students are eligible to apply for funding through the Office of Career Services (OCS) if you have not previously received Harvard funding for an international experience lasting four weeks or longer, as well as through a variety of centers on campus. All Harvard Summer School study abroad students qualify for funding through the OCS Funding Application for Harvard Summer School Study Abroad Programs.
You are welcome to stop in for more information on summer international experiences (including funding) Monday through Friday, from 1 to 4 pm, either in-person at OCS or via e-mail.
Deadline. The OCS Funding Application for Harvard Summer School Study Abroad Programs is a separate application through the Centralized Application for Research and Travel (CARAT). The application deadline is Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 5 pm.
Contact the Summer Planning and Funding Team in the OCS via e-mail at email@example.com with any questions about funding for Harvard Summer School Study Abroad Programs.
Be sure to also:
- Consult the Harvard College Funding Sources Database for more information on all sources of funding.
- Review the Harvard College Financial Aid Office summer school page for information about loan assistance.
Students at other schools
Students enrolled at other institutions should consult their financial aid offices. Assistance for students at other Harvard University schools may be available through the financial aid offices of the individual schools.

Harvard’s Tuition Assistance Plan (TAP) does not cover tuition for study abroad programs. To utilize your TAP benefits, consider taking a three- or seven-week Summer School course.
Harvard Summer School online services allows accepted students to make nonrefundable deposits and full payments with a valid credit card. Deposit payments made will be credited to your account. Note: Course registration begins in late March; full tuition will be posted to student accounts after that date.
Harvard College students who receive funding (from OCS or other Harvard sources) will see awards posted to their student account in early April and are not required to make a deposit. If you are not a Harvard College student and you expect to receive outside funding, please contact the Summer School Student Financial Services Office.
If payment cannot be made online, students can also mail payment in the form of a check, along with a completed study abroad payment form, to:
